Intergroup Nonprofit Changes

Non-profit Report – March 1, 2025

The project to bring our Intergroup into non-profit compliance with federal and state regulations is complete.  On December 10, 2024, the Roundup Committee voted unanimously to be combined with the Yuma Area Intergroup and on December 21, 2024, the Intergroup Committee approved the new bylaws.

On January 18, 2025, the Intergroup committee elected a board of directors for the corporation – Babs J, Bill O, Bob H, Debra C, Pattie O, & Paul L. The board had their first required “Board of Directors” meeting on January 26, 2025 and elected the following board member officers: Bill O – Chair, Paul L – Alt Chair, Debra C – Treasurer, Pattie O – Secretary. The board also decided which positions are rotated to start on the odd years (class 1) versus the ones on the even years (class 2). This allows the board position rotations to be staggered so we don’t elect a completely new board every two years. The positions currently held by Babs, Bob, and Debra are class 2 positions and will be open again at the end of 2025.

We’ve had about 10 groups submit their Group Information form to the Intergroup Office and are trying to get the word out for other groups that may be interested in this. The Intergroup liability insurance policy has an endorsement that allows us to provide liability insurance to the member groups, but the policy requires that the groups be registered with the intergroup. The form is attached below and can be returned to the Central Office or emailed to intergroup@aayuma.com.

Member Group Information

Why Support the Intergroup?

The Intergroup is a committee of volunteers made up of representatives from A.A. groups in the Yuma, Arizona area. It exists as the servant of it’s member groups with the purpose of carrying the message to alcoholics. The Intergroup is able to provide services that would be too much for the individual groups to handle by themselves, such as:

  • Maintain the Central Office
  • 24-hour telephone helpline
  • Distribution of AA literature
  • Protect & display our Yuma AA historical materials
  • Collect & distribute meeting information
  • Publish the Yuma AA newsletter
  • Maintain the Yuma AA website
  • Liaison among the AA groups
  • Information center for the general public
  • Sponsor special events for all groups

Who needs it and who supports it?

We all do! Intergroup uses donations contributed by groups in the area to carry on its functions. Your group support is needed to make sure that Intergroup can give us and the community the services we need. “When anyone anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of A.A. always to be there. And for that I am responsible.”
